The SpArc - Coaching & Psychedelic Facilitation for Evolutionary Discovery
Greetings Dear Friends,

As the cleansing rains fall upon the Blue Ridge forests, I feel a washing away taking place within me. Letting go of ways well traveled.  Letting memories recede into the morning mist.
A radiance rises in the distance like fire on the mountain.  Its right here, in this very moment, something new and fresh takes shape. Each breath.. A call back into the mystery. A clarity grows as the focus settles. A new journey is already underway. It’s time.

Facilitation has been a gift beyond anything I could explain… To stand at that threshold time and again. Beside a wildly courageous soul. Who is willing to take that timeless step.  Beyond the “Self”. Beyond the known. Into that brave place of genuine discovery. Or more accurately, Rediscovery. Or better yet  remembrance.

A quest within to find that space. Where the heart and mind are once again Clear. True. And In love with the whole thing. A vibrant wholeness. Where well-being and awareness are on in the same.

There’s a moment when you finally let go. And its right then, the journey truly begins.  An appointment has been scheduled with the cosmic wind.  And somehow, someway.. life knows your arriving soon.

That’s where the heart really decides. To make a change.  To open the eyes and awaken a little bit more. And right there. That moment. That is Actually the medicine.  The willingness. The earnestness. The openness to the mystery. To be willing to believe in order to see.  To follow the call.

To then we make the approach. That is where the real mystery unfolds. The place where we dance between the light and dark.  Where ecstacy and pain coalesce. Seeking to find an equilibrium.  A catharsis of the heart.  Where peace and understanding reside. Only to discover. Where you inevitably land is where the journey first began. Right here. In this moment. In presence.

My service is to harmonize with that song.  The sacred tones each one of us carries.  Whether the lute string is too tight or loose.. You’re body will seek to discover the balance. And this is where your radiant note resides.

I am here to stand as a watcher on the rim. An ally and steward. As you discover your way home. What that requires. What deep truth does your body or mind seek? What will support your rediscovery?

Where does your center lie? Where does the pain, anger, joy and love reside. Where the ancient meets the transcendent.

Yet after, five years of facilitation tending that sacred fire.  Something calls me deeper still. Into that stillness. The silence.  Into the quiet world of meditation.  Toward a new landscape of inner discovery.

Recently I was approached by a wonderful publishing company called Wisdom Path publications. They learned of my ceremonial faciliation and mindfulness work from writings on linkedIn and podcasts. They asked if I was willing to take bring my 20 year devotional odyssey into a book. So tomorrow, I accept contract to write about that journey home with their great support.

I’ve also accepted an opportunity to become an insight meditation teacher under the guidance of the wonderful Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. In October, I’ll be returning to the Spirit Rock for a 10 day Jhāna meditation retreat. And then, I will begin the formal path in training for a Berkley and Sounds True certification.

My journey of service will continue in a new meaningful way. My Inner Compass and Soul Path Mentorship programs offer longer arcs of connection allowing for a deeper anchoring. Through deep body attunement, mindfulness and the cultivation of compassion and virtue. A presence gathers. A wisdom arises. A path back toward origin.  To reconnect with a clear, empowered, essential nature.  These are paths of deep trust and fellowship, where then perennial tradition and initiation arrive into the rhythm of everyday life.

Below you’ll find additional resources that I hope are supportive on your path!  And as always, it’s an honor to be on this journey alongside you. Thank you so much for supporting me in this path of service I love.

Recently I created a substack called “Welcome the Threshold” exploring the cermonial frontier of psychedelic medicine and mindfulness practice. My main question is, how can we support finding greater agency working with plant medicine by adhering to deeper principles of mindfulness, presence and virtuous living. Below find a sample of my third article and please consider subscribing to my substack!
I deeply appreciate your support. (Keep an eye out for the 4th article being released this week!)

Note: The names in this article are changed to honor confidentiality. This reflection is a truthful retelling based upon all actual events.

Recently, a beautiful man sat across from me in his first journey. He said something I’ve heard from dozens of men over the years.

“I don’t actually know how to ask for help. I’m not sure how to trust. I’ve only been shown how to shoulder the burden. What happens if I need you?”

He was not a weak man. He had a phd, was a lifelong athlete and was a family man. Yet he, like many so others, lived with a set of unspoken expectations brought upon him from his father, and likely his father’s father before him; to carry the weight…. the job, the family, the mental & emotional toil, the physical pain… He was Required to carry it well and not expect any “handouts” in return.

By the time he arrived for an experience, his body was broken. Truth be told, I’ve never seen someone suffering from so much physical pain. Ruptured discs in his back, a recently botched spinal infusion surgery, stress fractures in his shoulders, the onset of Parkinson’s, nerve damage in his knees & feet, one leg a full inch longer than the other, atrophied muscles in the chest and biceps… It was heartbreaking to see. The pain had engrossed him in a spiral he could not find his way out of. Anxiety, fear, anger, frustration… it was the epicenter of his world. It cost him an early retirement from a job he loved, his life as an athlete was indefinitely over and his marriage was on the brink. And the medications… the pharmacopeia this man had in his cabinet was utterly stunning…
Recent years have seen a global explosion in psychedelic research and treatment development, coupled with unexpected wins such as President Trump’s executive order to expedite the research and review of psychedelic drugs for therapeutic use in April 2026.

A growing body of research shows that psychedelics have an immense potential when it comes to therapeutic treatment, especially for mental health disorders. However, the current direction in which psychedelic R&D is heading leaves us with an important dilemma: with such a highly medicalised model, how can such a groundbreaking transformation happen when key populations who need this treatment most continue to be systematically excluded from clinical trials?
Psilocybin increases brain flexibility and shifts information flow weeks after use
Over the past decade, psychedelics have moved from the margins of psychiatry into some of the world’s leading academic centres, where they are being investigated for conditions ranging from treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to addiction, anorexia nervosa and end-of-life anxiety. The results have generated real excitement, particularly for psilocybin, where several large studies have shown rapid and sometimes sustained benefits after only one or two administrations. Researchers soon began asking whether these treatments might also help in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), one of psychiatry’s most disabling and treatment-resistant illnesses.

The need is clear. OCD affects approximately 3% of people during their lifetime and remains a leading cause of disability worldwide. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) incorporating Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) remain the mainstays, but many patients respond inadequately or stay significantly symptomatic despite the best available care. This highlights the urgent need that exists for treatments that work through entirely different biological and psychological mechanisms…
Can Psychedelics Treat OCD? What the Science and Lived Experience Tells Us

Meditation Induces Changes in Deep Brain Areas Associated with Memory and Emotional Regulation
Researchers using intracranial electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings from deep within the brain found that meditation led to changes in activity in the amygdala and hippocampus, key brain regions involved in emotional regulation and memory.
The study, conducted by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and published Tuesday, February 4, in PNAS, may help explain the positive impact these practices have and could contribute to the development of meditation-based approaches for improving memory and emotional regulation.Previous research has shown that meditation—a set of mental techniques to focus attention and awareness—can improve mental well-being and potentially help improve psychiatric diseases like anxiety and depression.

For those interested in the path of insight meditation, this book touches the very soul of the practice.  Written by two of the most inspiring voices in the tradition, Joseph Goldstein & Jack Kornfield, it holds a full tapestry of wisdom teachings and practical guidance.  True to the title itself, it offers a tremendous amount of heart in the way the path is offered cover to cover. It has been instrumental for me.
